CEAG's library actions a driver for SDG 4

Education has been consolidated as a relevant agenda at a global level since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 2015, the United Nations (UN) launched a global agenda with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that aims to eradicate poverty, preserve the environment, promote equity and inclusion. Therefore, the Improvement Center in Gastronomy (Centro de Aperfeiçoamento em Gastronomia - Ceag) aims to strengthen the Senac brand in the gastronomy segment, supporting technically and pedagogically the development of Gastronomy area in the Federal District, thus promoting actions of the 2030 Agenda, especially SDG 4: Quality Education. Ceag’s Library stands out as na environment for dissemination of information and culture, in an organic, dynamic and creative way, allowing its users to expand their knowledge and reach new horizons.

In 2020, the team of Librarians of Senac Pernambuco was provoked to propose a work plan for the year 2021, which contemplated cultural action in a virtual environment as a way of facing the Coronavirus during the year 2020, when the libraries were, as information units, unable to start and/or continue the services and activities of face-to-face interaction with the public of the libraries. Gradually, with the advancement and success of the measures to combat the COVID-19 in the country, everyday activities were partially resumed, taking the necessary precautions and respecting the entire protocol of Senac-PE to combat COVID-19. However, it would not be possible to carry out in-person cultural action, since there could be no agglomerations. In this context, the Creative Writing Project: classroom chronicles was created and elaborated to meet the current need. This article seeks to describe how the project was planned, organized and executed, as well as the results that were, at the end of the first edition, materialized in the form of digital books and publications at a Senac Pernambuco event. The participation of the Librarians and Senac PE employees; the choice of target audience; the registration and transmission platform for the project workshops; the publicity of the event; the performance of the participants (teachers and coordinators) and of the workshop participants (guests and collaborators) are described here

The library in accessible and inclusive mediation

The article aims to share experiences from the
search for participatory mediation. This process
involves attention to the mediation’s need
for expansion with actions in the most varied
formats and languages possible, thinking about
accessibility for all, in various aspects and in
formation with its audience. To reach these results,
we present some of our guiding activities, such
as the importance of knowing the audience that
is already part of our school community, their
reading practices and the lack of them. And also
understand our role in bringing new readers closer,
understanding their specificities and the barriers
that made them never or little come to enjoy the
various readings and experiences promoted and
shared in the library space.

This article reports the experience of the process of implementing the Library of Things, focusing on sustainability and conscious consumption, to add sustainable values and new practices for cost reduction. The study was carried out at the Information and Knowledge Center (CIC) of the Carlos Milito Professional Education Center of Senac in Alagoas. The present study is an analysis of actions carried out through the Library
of Things project still in development, whose general objective is to discuss the possibilities of implementing a library with non-bibliographic materials, through sustainable practices, aiming at reducing unnecessary costs for the Institution, meeting the needs of employees in the shared use of unused equipment and materials. As
specific objectives, it is intended to analyze which existing resources in the sectors can be used collaboratively; identify, based on this measurement, the reduction of costs with the purchase of equipment and materials and the
waste of these materials; and reflect on the results of the practices adopted in relation to the proper use and the reuse of products and equipment. The methodology had a qualitative approach with an interpretative basis. Regarding methodological procedures, the analysis of reports of Senac in Alagoas collaborators, images and photographic records that expose the visual identity of the library was conducted. The analysis was based on the researchers’ studies: Carvalho (2016); Botsman and Rogers (2011), among others. From the data analysis, it was verified the importance of adopting sustainable practices in the corporate environment and enabling the construction of other projects and cultural changes about sustainability.

Role of the library and the librarian in the context of user education

The democratization of access to information, provoked by the technological evolution experienced today, brought with it the need to develop skills in the search and use of information. The librarians have, as their role, the training of users; they need to develop informational skills in students/researchers through informational literacy. The article presents the role of the university library and the librarian, presenting the experience report of Senac-DF Library Network, pointing out the main difficulties faced and their evolution. Faced with the new challenges, the
present work emphasizes the importance of libraries organizing themselves and planning their services according to the needs and preferences of their users, because they are not for books – they are for people.

In search of the SDGs

The objective of this paper is to reflect on the fundamental role of libraries as institutions which can assist their users in the development of their informational skills when dealing with the great information flow nowadays. In addition, this paper discusses the importance of libraries as spaces which promote the habit of reading and the pleasure of literature as possibilities of humanization and ethical considerations. These two characteristics of libraries and librarian’s performance are closely linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as we can see from practical examples of actions in the Libraries Senac Lapa Tito and Senac Francisco Matarazzo.

Library for a better world

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic brought changes to schools, besides transforming everyday life, the way we relate to work, social habits, and lifestyle. In pedagogical practice, the remote teaching and online education alternating synchronous and asynchronous classes, and the employing of digital technologies became reality by using didactic resources that aimed to facilitate learning. This article seeks to report experiences and to highlight the role of the library in the COVID-19 pandemic context, describing some actions promoted by Senac Largo Treze and its
core: Senac Jardim Primavera, in order to identify the actions promoted by the library, connected with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Agenda; and list the responses offered to strengthen the learning process in times of crisis, such as introduced by COVID-19. In addition, the article intends to cause reflections on the teaching
role through the new educational demands and the importance of renewal between the school sectors, in light of the contributions of David Lankes, Edgard Morin and Paulo Freire, pursuing the constant improvement of the pedagogical practice.

Mixed libraries as a space for the implementation of Objective 4 from the 2030 Agenda

Understanding new concepts is a challenge. Based on this principle, the objective of this paper is to present the concept of “school library” and “university library”, and the result of the combination of these two typologies, which makes them a mixed library. In addition, it shows as the
mixed library can assist in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, established by the United Nations, especially regarding the Objective 4 – Quality Education. Therefore, there are numerous actions which integrate the different audiences that can be carried out to take advantage of the
collective space of the library and help in achieving the goal of sustainable development.

Kamishibai at Senac Jundiaí

The Kamishibai, Japanese theater, initially with the 12th century Buddhist purpose of transmitting information to the illiterate in Japan, later became cultural and popular all over the world with its simple format, but with an impactful potential to share the information orally and by images.
By this format, it was observed the opportunity to work several points of the formative marks proposed by Senac, because it enables group work where the student is in a universe of integration with others. It also meets the axis of orality that is fundamental for the mastery of the language of the individual, according to the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).

Activities Reading Soiree and Book Exchange Fair at Senac SP Jundiaí unit with young apprentices from the city of Atibaia

In order to promote reading, literacy and reading competence, essential elements for the citizen's formation of the subject, as well as contemplating the pillar of orality proposed by the BNCC which is fundamental for the development of the individual to master the language, the reports of of cases that will be presented here, the reading soiree and book exchange fair are used for these purposes as well as a driving tool to encourage reading, allowing them to include them in knowledge in a pleasant way and for them to feel welcomed and motivated.
